Poem by Blanche Bolland (AGS)
CASL Training, or How We Spent Our Summer Vacation

by the non-Minnesotan participants (mostly speech-language pathologists [SLPs], as channeled through Blanche Bolland

We found the Minneapolis airport a major mess,
But that's probably no fault of AGS.
The shuttle then took us to the Embassy Suites,
Where awaited us many enjoyable treats.

From the four corners of the country we came-
Florida, Seattle, Rhode Island, L.A.-all with one aim:
To become certified as a CASL trainer
By Kathleen Williams, who makes CASL much plainer.

August 12's training started awfully early,
But the AGS folks weren't the least bit surly.
We got to meet our main contact, Lisa D.,
Who arranged it all, then turned paparazzi.

We also met Inga and CASL Editor Sue,
Hanken, Hein, Salazar, Tursi, and others too.
Then Williams was able to make Lexical/Semantic,
Supralinguistic, et al. seem almost romantic.

At noon we enjoyed a Minnesota buffet,
But when lutefisk was mentioned, we cried, "No way!"
The wild rice soup was delicious; great, the walleye,
But we weren't about to eat dried cod soaked in lye.

In the CASL manual, Chapter 4 is the best,
Dr. Woolfolk there explains the purpose of each test.
The handouts were helpful; much info was shared.
Great contacts were made, and our concerns were aired.

If you view our photos on the AGS Web site,
It's clear we worked hard, had fun, and learned to train right.
Sales reps, we're now ready to teach SLPs
To administer all 15 tests with great ease.

What does this all mean? You'll see CASL sales soar,
And next year we'll be returning for training galore!
