discrepancy model
My school district uses the discrepany model to qualify students for speech therapy. I believe according to the new IDEA districts can opt to not use the discrepancy model for qualification. Are any school districts not using the discrepancy model??

I am interested in this topic as well so if anyone would like to tell how you qualify students without the discrepancy, please tell. I mean if you have a sp.ed. student with an IQ of 76 and his articulation skills are normal (or close) and his language skills are at around 65...would this child qualify with your system? We used to have a 20 point discrepancy and that made sense to me but now I'm not sure what would happen. Thanks so much for your help and information.
