Fluency - when to discharge?
I have been seeing a kindergarten student for the past year for stuttering. His stuttering consists mostly of part-word repetitions. He rarely stutters when he is in therapy with me; stuttering episodes increase when we are in the hallway. His parents feel he is doing great and say he only stutters when he is excited about telling them something. He shows no signs of any secondary behaviors, and he tells me that he hardly ever has "bumpy speech" anymore (he does not seem concerned in the slightest). So my question is, when do we discharge for stuttering? Does speech have to be perfect? His annual is coming up and I am thinking about keeping him on for once a month for monitoring, but I'd love to hear some advice on this.

If his teacher doesn't see a problem, I would also discharge. We don't monitor or consult anymore so he would be a discharge for me. As long as he's doing okay in speaking situations in class, (i.e., show and tell), I would discharge too.

I would probably see him once a month. You can also go into his classroom to observe his speech.
