My student was a second grader and gifted artist with a severe language disorder. He spent most of his free time on his grandfather's cattle ranch. One day he drew a glorious picture of black cows in a green field. To encourage verbalization I used his picture to stimulate conversation. "Are the black cows Angus?" I asked. His reply, "Only if you hit them with a stick!"
