A preschool teacher in our program had spent several weeks in class emphasizing the correct use of the pronoun "I." She gently and consistently reminded students to use the correct pronoun when they would say, "Me want to do it." One day at circle, she asked for volunteers for an activity, and many hands shot up and students started yelling, "Me! Me! Me!" To remind the children of the rules at circle time, the teacher stated, "Excuse me, I am not calling on anyone who is shouting "ME!" and right on cue they all kept their hands up and started yelling, "I! I! I!" |
